Chiang Dao Cave Temple
My scooter and I, we went to the caves. Is spelunking what they call it? There’s the hot springs and there's the caves. The engines of tourism in the village, though off the beaten path of Westerners.
My friend Jen seems to have a thing about caves: she doesn’t like them. Whereas I, being more curious, was drawn to them. The whole scene, as much as anything. The people, commerce, cafes. This description below and following photos pretty much tell the story:
The Chiang Dao Cave Temple is one of the most sacred places for local people and has been for hundreds of years. Humans have used this cave as shelter and a place of worship at least since the 17th century. The cave is part of an extensive temple complex with pavilions with statues of monks and hermits, Buddha images.
