The Sound of Phin
My Airbnb host plays this instrument. A beautiful acoustic sound. When I asked about it, she said she didn’t know I had returned, she hoped the noise hadn’t disturbed me - 😌. She said she plays with a group of younger students at the Thursday market. I love learning about and hearing traditional music wherever I travel.

The phin is a type of lute with a pear-shaped body, originating in the Isan region of Thailand and played mostly by ethnic Laotians in Thailand and Laos. It has frets on the neck over which three metal strings are plucked by a pick held in the right hand while playing.
